Vivek Tiwari is an Indian social entrepreneur, microfinance visionary, and the Founder and Managing Director of Satya MicroCapital Ltd. He is widely credited with transforming grassroots financial inclusion in India by introducing innovative, technology-enabled, and responsible lending models that empower millions of women entrepreneurs and underserved households across rural and semi-urban markets.

Early Foundations & Navodaya Roots

When Vivek Tiwari stepped into the gates of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Gauri Ganj (Amethi-Sultanpur) in 1987, he entered an institution that was just beginning to write its legacy. Belonging to the 2nd batch of Navodaya students, his seven years (1987–1994) in JNV shaped his intellectual and personal outlook.

Studying in the PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) stream honed his logical and scientific temperament, while the immersive hostel life taught him adaptability, empathy, and community leadership. Surrounded by peers from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, he realized early that true progress must be inclusive. This foundation sparked his lifelong commitment to building economic systems where marginalized communities are never left behind.

Academic Journey & Rural Development Expertise

Following his schooling, Vivek pursued higher education built around governance and rural empowerment:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science (1995–1998): University of Allahabad, providing deep insights into state policies, governance frameworks, and socio-political dynamics.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management (PGDRM, 1998–2001): Institute of Engineering & Rural Technology (IERT), University of Allahabad, bridging theoretical policy with grassroots execution.

This unique combination of political understanding and rural management expertise equipped him with the tools needed to design scalable, impactful financial interventions.

Professional Dawn & Early Microfinance Years

Vivek began his professional career in 2000 with UNICEF, working within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) sector. This grassroots exposure revealed the stark realities of rural India—limited credit access, vulnerable communities, and the urgent need for structured economic support.

Between 2000 and 2008, he worked across multiple organizations in the microfinance and development sectors, establishing himself as a vocal advocate for financial inclusion and poverty alleviation.

Satin Creditcare Network & Scaling Operations

In 2008, Vivek joined Satin Creditcare Network Ltd (SCNL) as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Over the next eight years, he played a pivotal role in scripting one of India's most remarkable microfinance growth narratives: - Expanded Satin's portfolio exponentially from ₹50 crore to ₹4,000 crore. - Integrated technology-driven frameworks for responsible credit assessment and risk management. - Championed the Joint Liability Group (JLG) and Women Self Help Group (WSHG) models, providing formal financial access to millions of women. - Served as Vice Chairperson of the Microfinance Institutions Network (MFIN), shaping regulatory policies for a sustainable and ethical microfinance sector.

Founding Satya MicroCapital Ltd

In 2016, Vivek launched his entrepreneurial venture, Satya MicroCapital Ltd, with a mission to build a responsible, technology-driven, and human-centric microfinance institution. Under his leadership, Satya has grown into an industry powerhouse: - Operating across 26 States in India. - Managing 800+ branch offices with deep rural penetration. - Impacting over 60,000+ villages. - Employing 8,000+ personnel dedicated to grassroots service. - Disbursing over ₹20,000+ crore in credit assets to empower micro-entrepreneurs.

Awards & Recognition

Vivek Tiwari’s contributions to financial inclusion and social entrepreneurship have earned widespread national acclaim: - Recognized as a Promising Entrepreneur of India (2021) by The Economic Times. - Recipient of the prestigious BFSI Leadership Award. - Honored with the Bharat Jyoti Award by the India International Friendship Society.

Remaining deeply connected to his roots, Vivek actively supports Navodaya alumni initiatives, mentors young professionals entering the finance and startup sectors, and champions community-driven causes. His journey from JNV Gauri Ganj to leading a multi-crore financial institution stands as a testament to discipline, empathy, and vision.

> "Finance is not about money—it is about trust, dignity, and opportunity. My mission is to ensure that the poorest of the poor are never left behind in India’s growth story." — Vivek Tiwari
